Fit Tips from Valerie Waters
Start
Decide right now to live a healthier life and then take some
immediate action steps to put this decision in motion. Motivation
follows action. Some things you can do right now might include clearing
the kitchen of all obvious junk food, making a space in your house or
garage where you can exercise, or sitting for 5 minutes and getting
clear on what it is you want to achieve.
Get Motivated
The number one motivator is a goal with a deadline. Write down what
it is that you want to achieve, by when you’re going to achieve it and
how you’re going to do it. Tape it to the fridge or on your closet
door, wherever you need to, to remind yourself that you can do this,
you will do this, you must do this! I also take a nutritional
supplement called CUUR to help me stay motivated with my nutrition
efforts. Since I take CUUR with breakfast, lunch and dinner, I am
making a conscious effort to reduce the amount of carbohydrates and
sugars I’m putting into my system. The extra energy I feel from taking
the all-natural supplement and eating healthy gives me more energy,
giving me more reason to work out!
Make Time for Exercise
Working out doesn’t just happen when you “find the time”. You have
to make the time. Schedule your workouts like you would any other
appointment. Take your day planner or your palm pilot and at the
beginning of the week, schedule your workouts. Ideally, if you can do
it first thing in the morning, you’ll be less likely to put it off.
Plan Your Meals and Plan Your Snacks
Don’t leave your nutrition up to chance. Prepare your lunch the
night before and take it to work with you in a cooler. Also plan for
the mid-morning and midday munchies by bringing along healthy snacks.
Low-fat yogurt, a piece of fruit, or some almonds are all great
choices. And if its sweets you’re craving, a handful of raisins should
do the trick. Planning and eating three small meals and two snacks a
day will keep the drive-thru cravings away.
Get Your Family on Board
Get the kids out of the house and over to your neighborhood park.
Don’t just watch them run around, play tag with them. Or take the whole
family on a walk to your local Farmers’ Market, where you can sample
some of the healthiest and yummiest foods and snacks. Incorporating
your family into your healthy routine will not only provide support and
motivation, but it’ll be more fun!
