Tips From Valerie: How Fit People Survive The Holidays
Tip 1- Any day’s a good day to make a resolution.
Fit people make resolutions year-round. It’s important to state
them, document them, and revisit them in order to remain committed. I
encourage my clients to make appointments with themselves to review
their goals and measure their progress. Just a few notes in your
calendar to remind you how far you’ve come since you made your original
resolution can provide the inspiration to keep with your plan. If you
write it down, you have a way to review your progress and modify or
adjust your goal. Fit people are constantly refining their intentions
to make them actionable. Under the heading of saying, “I want to get in
better shape this year”, you can create sub-goals, like “I will reduce
my body fat by three percent over the next eight weeks” or “I will eat
an extra portion of fruit and raw vegetables at every meal this week.
These are easy to adhere to, and ultimately make the difference in
reaching your larger goal.
Tip 2- Don’t let a setback turn into a slump.
Even if you’re not in the mood, a short workout is better than none
at all. I find that my clients, even when they’re stretched thin and
exhausted, perk up after ten to fifteen minutes of good physical
activity. Having said that, there will always be times when your
fitness regimen gets put on the back burner. When that happens, it
becomes very important to make getting back into your routine an even
higher priority. Make an appointment with yourself to sit down, review
your goals and make a hard and fast plan for correcting your reversal.
Note your “bad” days in your calendar so you can be sure they’re not
part of a bigger pattern. Then move on, without guilt. As long as
you’re back working toward your goal, you can forgive yourself and your
resolution is intact.
Tip 3- Take CUUR.
Getting a little traction is important when setting out on a big
resolution. CUUR is the product I’d been hoping for. It helps diminish
cravings for sugars and carbs, so we naturally gravitate toward more
healthy foods. This provides a natural energy boost, which is important
to my clients, who don’t want to feel jittery during filming or public
appearances. Make it part of your program and expect to see and feel
results that can help you stay committed to your goal.
